In Search of the Truth (The Truth Booth)

Aspen Art Museum and the Aspen Institute present In Search of the Truth (The Truth Booth), a global participatory art installation, at the Aspen Institute’s Resnick Center for Herbert Bayer Studies from July 28 to July 30, 2026. The installation runs concurrently with the Aspen Art Museum’s second AIR festival.

Conceived by CAUSE COLLECTIVE artists Ryan Alexiev, Jim Ricks, Hank Willis Thomas, Jorge Sanchez, and Will Sylvester, Truth Booth takes the form of a giant, inflatable speech bubble and video recording booth. Visitors are invited to enter the booth and record two-minute video responses to the prompt: “The truth is…” Responses are available to view at insearchofthetruth.net.

Since its inception in 2011, Truth Booth has traveled to five continents, seven countries, and 37 U.S. states. This installation marks the project’s first appearance in Colorado, and a return to Aspen for Hank Willis Thomas, who served as the Aspen Institute Arts Program 2024/25 Harman/Eisner Artist in Residence.
